From our friend Tom Bryner of the Central PA Racing (C.P.R.) Mowers:
We are a group of mower racers from all over the Northeast, and we have decided to put together a series of approximately 10 races for 2011. All of these races will be held on nice fast and smooth racing surfaces most of which will be go-kart tracks.
These races are open to any mower racer, from any organization, as long as they meet our rules and safety guidelines.
July 15 and 16 will be the 1st Doubleheader, Double points weekend for the FTFMRS – That’s right, a double header weekend with double points for each track! We will be running at Selinsgrove on Friday night July 15th. Selinsgrove is a FAST 1/5 mile with very wide open turns and a smooth clay surface. The last time there the FTFMRS had mowers running in the High 12 sec range. Borgers will be on July 16th and this track treated us very well the last time out. Some of our FTFMRS drivers made Local TV and newspapers. The crowd and Kart drivers loved every lap of the show and asked us to do it again. Lots of interest in mower racing happened in the pits with tons of questions!
There is a small fee for these tracks so please check our forum for more information, or you may reach me at tbryner@embarqmail.com.
Way to mow, Northeast lawn mower racers! WE can’t wait to see the results of this new series!
A sure sign of summer: the 3rd Weekend of July rolls around, and it’s time for the H.D. (Huntington’s Disease) Mower Race Weekend in Sparta (Grand Rapids), Michigan!
The STA-BIL Lawn & Garden Mower Racing Series returns to the Paul C. Mitchell Airport in Sparta for the 9th annual STA-BIL Great Lakes Summer Nationals Race for Huntington’s Disease Research, Saturday-Sunday, July 16-17, 2011.
The Mikula Family and the Michigan Lawn Mower Racing Association have again put together a great weekend of lawn mower racing, hospitality and overall good vibes as racers from far and wide converge on the Grand Rapids area for what has become a crown jewel of the STA-BIL Series.
We are proud to announce that over the past nine years, this event as raised $100,000 for Huntington’s Disease Research! Let’s keep it mowing!

Charlie Bowen donated the engine this year. The rest of the parts where supplied by Four Seasons and Jim and Jayson Mikula. Doc Kuhfeldt’s idea for the HD Mower Raffle lives on, and the contest gains new MOWmentum every year!
Donation: $2.00 per ticket or three (3) for $5.00. Drawing will be held Sunday, July 17, 2011. Winners do not need to be present to win, and delivery of the mower will be worked out with the winner. Verbal confirmations for racer turnout this year seem to be at a near high. We are expecting the Western Ontario Outlaws to attend for an exhibition race as well as some of the affiliated clubs in Michigan. It should be a great weekend!
Please visit the event the Official HD Mower Races Web Site and Facebook Page for all the latest information!
We will again ward “Weekend Champion” trophies in all classes, counting heats and features from both days. Special thanks to Jim and Karen Keech for the unique tractor trophies for this award!
Camping will be allowed in the pits as long as there are no fires or fireworks. This must be strictly adhered to because the track is located on airport grounds. There are also public camp grounds located about 10 minutes from the track in Cedar Springs MI.
There will be 7 portable facilities on site, 2 located in the pits and 5 in the spectator area.
SEE YOU IN SPARTA!
You’ve heard about BOWLES FARMS… you’ve always wanted to race at BOWLES FARMS… and now is your chance to race at BOWLES FARMS as the STA-BIL Lawn & Garden Mower Racing Series and U.S. Open Racing returns to one of the premier lawn mower racing facilities in the nation.
The 7th Annual St. Mary’s County National Lawn Mower Races will take place at beautiful Bowles Farms, in Clements, Maryland on August 5-6, 2011, with a STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series U.S. Points Race Double Header and the U.S. Eastern Seaboard Open. Bowles Farms Weekend will include STA-BIL Lawn & Garden Mower Racing Series National Points Races AND U.S. Open Events on both days.
Bowles Farms Weekend will be a lot of fun and will give racers a chance to obtain STA-BIL Series Points AND enjoy some Open Class Racing! We’ve also been getting many inquiries and requests about a U.S. Open Points Series and we are working on that for 2012 – our 20th Anniversary season. Stay tuned!
Rolling Starts will be used at Bowles Farms in all classes, STA-BIL Series and U.S. Open Classes. We are working on the logistics of A Mains, B Mains, qualifying, 2 lap time trials for Bowles Farms Weekend.
FREE Membership for First Time US National Points Racers will be offered at Bowles Farms. USLMRA understands that with the price of gas going up throughout this racing season, travel will be difficult. And for some even jobs have been on the line, alone just the cost of living going up. It has been our goal with the announcement of the US Open Series along with the announcement of Rolling Starts to attract all racers who would like to participate the right to do so. Last season we lowered the cost of our membership to $20.00 to help our members. We are able to achieve this with the help of our sponsors and event fees. At Bowles Farms, all First Time Racers that sign in at the Registration Table will be given free 2011 USLMRA Membership. This is a savings of $20.00 to you to get you started. You will still need to fill out a Membership Form at the event so we can put your information in the database to achieve your National Points.
USLMRA membership fee is not required to compete in the U.S. Open Classes. STA-BIL Series Racers/USLMRA Members can also compete in the U.S. Open Classes if they wish. This will give USLMRA racers a chance to meet, race and socialize with some new friends at one of the finest lawn mower racing facilities in the country. Racers from all sanctioning bodies and groups are welcome to come out and run at BOWLES FARMS.
Separate races will be run and trophies awarded for the U.S. Open Classes.
If you have not raced at Bowles Farms in the past you will be “AMAZED”! Tommy and Tina Bowles along with Ronnie Mattingly and his crew spare no expense when it comes to putting on a great venue. The track is absolutely terrific, with smooth clay, plenty wide and lights all around. Racing under the lights allows gives the track great grip and a smoking fast track.
In 2009, the track was redone and a clay surface has been added – it will be 30 ft wide, over 700 ft long, and promises to be fast and smooth as smooth can be. Covered grandstands, hay bails for miles, pit parking for everyone, track help by the truck load, air conditioned restrooms, camping room for an army of racers and mow; however there will be no hook ups for campers and RV’s. Restrooms are open until 10 pm daily and they will also have portable facilities. Barry “B Man” Sullivan and Bubba from SSS Entertainment will be on hand all weekend to keep y’all entertained!
This is a lawn mower racing event for the whole family to attend with other activities including Children’s Moon Bounce, Kiddy Tractor Pull, John Deere Toy Display, K-9 Demonstrations and Antique Tractors on Display, Face Painting, and Barry “B Man” Sullivan from SSS Entertainment keeping the party mowing after the races on Saturday night. New this year, on Saturday, will be a Mini Excavator Challenge, and racers who are good with using operating equipment are invited to compete for prizes.
Last year over 9,200 spectators witnessed 2 days of spectacular racing. This year drivers will be provided to meals on Friday and again on Saturday.
Spectator admission is $8.00 per person, children 8 and under free. The races benefit the 7th District Rescue Squad and the 7th District Optimist Club. Here is their Facebook Page: St.Mary’s County National Lawn Mower Racing.
There will be only one entrance for the racers to come in to the pits, thus when you arrive with your mowers we will be admitting 1 racer and 1 crew member, everyone else will pay admission.
We have also acquired a few extra $$$$’s for this weekend. So for this weekend there will be a drawing for drivers to win $50.00 cash tow money. We ask that only drivers that have driven over 100 miles enter.

The “Land of Lincoln” continues to mow and grow with the addition of the Northwest Illinois Lawn Mower Racing Association (NWI) as an Affiliated Club, and the NWI Speedway.
“We’re building two great tracks,” said NWI President Bob Stees. “We’ll have one track that is 1/10th of a mile and another that is a high speed oval, like a high speed national track with a chicane, and with 20 degree banking. We’ll be running am NWI Points Series and look forward to racers joining us from far and wide.”
